Charles E. Stevens, Jr. | July 4, 1936 – April 27, 2004
In 1968, Charles E. Stevens, Jr. moved to Salina, Kansas after learning a local construction company was for sale. The sale was realized February, 1969, and the company became Stevens Contractors, Inc., a utility construction company. The company built water and sewage treatment plants, water and sewer lines, and concrete pavement repairs. Eventually, the company began diamond grinding of concrete pavement on highways.
Charles enjoyed a long and successful business career and was active for many years in the Kansas Contractors Association, serving as a board member, as well as president of the association.
In October, 1993, Charles hired Quentin J. Robl as a project manager. Quentin graduated from Kansas State University with a Civil Engineering degree and had nine years experience working as a civil engineer prior to taking on his new position at Stevens Contractors, Inc.
On April 27, 2004, Charles Stevens passed. Stevens Contractors, Inc. continues today under the ownership of Quentin and Christine Robl.
The company now focuses its work on installing water, sanitary sewer and storm drain utilities, as well as sewer pump stations.
